Although there are many benefits to
living in this condo, what I have loved most are the expansive
windows that bring in so much light, which has really helped this
native California girl during the long Montréal winters. And, the
condo's high ceilings add to the feeling of spaciousness the windows
give the place.
The large living room/dining room area
offers possibilities for different furniture arrangements. We
divided the area into computer room, living room, and dining room.
Each space feels comfortable and never crowded.

The open concept kitchen—plenty large
enough for two—allows for conversations with friends and family
while cooking or preparing a delicious latte or cappuccino; we are
big coffee connoisseurs! The unobstructed view to the outside from
the kitchen is also a plus when you are the resident dishwasher (or
when loading the electric version).

The bedroom has ample space for your bed (queen size in the photo), dresser, nightstands, and more. Add a desk or a comfy chair near the window for
reading, relaxing, or meditating. The large window brings plenty of light and offers you a
wonderful view of tree tops, clouds, and sky.

Bedroom / Chambre à coucher |
The bathroom is
spacious, too, with a separate stall shower and bathtub.

Bathroom / Salle de bain |
The entry hallway has three very important and useful spaces: a closet with the washer, dryer, and water heater; a convenient coat closet; and a good-sized storage space right inside the condo!

Entry Hallway / Hall d'entrée |
Finally, the balcony: a space to enjoy your own
marvelous outdoor oasis! During the spring, summer, and fall, we
have our outdoor chairs and table positioned under an umbrella. What
a lovely place to read, to share a meal, or to simply sit and enjoy
gazing out at the green space at the end of the parking courtyard.
Each year we have added to the balcony's ambience by growing flowers,
spices, and even a few veggies. Such a lovely spot to chat with
one's significant other about the day's happenings.

In addition to the charm and comfort
that this condo offers, you have the benefits of a Sports Centre
complete with a gym, indoor pool, sauna, squash court, Petit Salon,
pool table, ping pong, all located in the building's basement! No
need to use your car, just go downstairs and enjoy. There are also
two rooftop terraces (third and fifth floor). The views from the 5
th
floor terrace are amazing, and you can even catch a glimpse of the
fireworks during the summer. Along with all of these advantages you
have a storage space in the basement, designated bike parking (right near the garage door--so convenient), and an
outdoor parking space!
We have taken care of this condo and
made it ready for the next owner. We repainted each room recently.
We installed new IKEA blinds in the living room area and new curtains
in the bedroom. We replaced both the bathroom and kitchen sinks.
The kitchen sink is now stainless with a more modern faucet. The
refrigerator and stove are newer since we bought them when we moved
into the place in 2013. We also installed a more efficient bathroom
fan last year. The condo is ready to be moved into and enjoyed just
as it is. And, it is also ready to be tailored to your own vision,
if that's your heart's desire.
A BUILDING WITH HISTORY
Originally, the condo building was a
high school built in 1955. In 1990, the school was converted into
100 condos using the original two-storey school building and adding
three additional floors. Because we are in the actual school
building part, the soundproofing is excellent.

The Grand Entry / La grande entrée |
Le Samuel de Champlain condo building
feels like a small community. We have neighbors who have fed our cat
and taken care of our plants when we have gone on vacation. The
Condo Association, which is proactive and concerned with protecting
our investment in the building, has several activities throughout the
year to offer opportunities for us to get to know our neighbors
better. The yearly holiday party is one event I look forward to each
year. We have so much fun sharing our holiday snack offerings, a
glass of wine, and good conversation with those in the building.
We have enjoyed living in this condo
very much. If we could move it with us to Vancouver, we certainly
would! Now, you have the opportunity to live here and enjoy all the
perks of being a Samuel de Champlain condo owner.
Here is a link to an interview of a
couple who have lived in our building for many years.
